DICTIONARY:
BOOKMARK / FAVORITE - Your browser's equivalent to placing a 'marker' on a website for easy revisiting.
CYBERSPACE - Slang for online, i.e. connected to the Internet.
DISK SPACE - The amount of file storage space on a computer's drive(s) or available to your website.
DOMAIN - A generic term describing the 'level' or name extension of a WWW address, i.e. COM, NET, ORG, etc.
DOMAIN NAME - The 'plain english' address of a website: www.mycompany.com
HOME PAGE - The initial page to a website (AKA the index or welcome page).
HOSTING - The storage of website, email, Telnet, FTP, etc. files on an Internet provider's computer (AKA server), connected to the Internet 24/7.
HOSTING/INTERNET PROVIDER - A company which provides website space and/or connection to individuals & businesses.
HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) - The core/base computer programming language (AKA tags) used to display website pages.
HTTP (Hypertext Transport Protocol) - The communication protocol (language) used by browsers & servers to transfer / display web pages.
INTERNET - The public, world-wide connection of computers, used commonly to 'surf' via browsers and/or exchange electronic messages (i.e. email, messaging, etc.).
INTRANET - A private network of computers within a company or organization.
IP (Internet Protocol) ADDRESS - A unique identification number, required to communicate with any other device on a network using this protocol, whether INTRANET or INTERNET.
ISP (Internet Service Provider) - An organization providing Internet access to homes, business, etc., via phone, optical, video or other cabling methods.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST TO MAKE?
We have a variety of packages ranging from set-priced to open-ended development deals. A new website typically has three seperate costs involved: DESIGN, HOSTING & NAME REGISTRATION. Our PACKAGES page lists all of this & more in detail.

CAN I START SMALL & INCREASE THE SITE AS I GO?
For 'new-to-the-web' organizations, this, in fact, is our recommendation.
DO YOU WORK WITH WEBSITES FOR INDIVIDUALS AS WELL?
Absolutely. Our FIRST SITE package is geared towards individuals and/or very small organizations.
CAN YOU COPY ANYTHING I OWN & PUT IT ON THE WEBSITE?
That's our specialty: hard copy or soft copy, brochures, logos, photos, slides, video, audio... the sky's the limit. Please note, LDD does not participate in websites with illegal, adult or violent content.
WILL I SEE THE SITE BEFORE IT GETS USED?
Absolutely. We will 'post' your site (i.e. 'put it on the net') ONLY when you tell us to. In order to ensure the website meets your standards, we ask that you test the site online, temporarily hosted on one of our current Internet servers.
WHAT IS 'SITE MAINTENANCE'?
As the site owner, you decide exactly what this is. It may include:
- adding new pictures of your latest products or services or gatherings
- updating a calendar of events
- creating new site features such as a message board
WILL I GET TO KEEP A COPY OF THE SITE?
Yes indeed.
WHAT ARE YOUR SERVICING HOURS?
Our hours are Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, E.S.T. Serves outside these hours can be arranged. CONTACT US to arrange something special.
HOW OFTEN DO YOU PERSONALLY VISIT YOUR CLIENTS?
As often as necessary, to update product information, photos, documentation, etc.

DO YOU FIX, REDESIGN OR MANAGE EXISTING SITES?
Yes. In fact, this can be more cost effective than creating a new site. Most website owners are unhappy with their site's designs or functionality & our SITE TUNE-UP package is geared toward helping out.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO DESIGN A SITE?
This question gets asked most often about small sites. On average, creating from scratch our FIRST SITE PACKAGE takes approximately 3 business days.
WHAT SHOULD I DO TO PREPARE?
We strongly suggest completing our WEBSITE PLANNING GUIDE (available to print as an ADOBE PDF document) to begin with. Complete the document as thoroughly as possible, then make two copies, keeping one & sending us the other. Next, gather copies of ANYTHING you have which may contain information or pictures that could be used on the site. 'Soft-copies' are preferred (files of documents/pictures on disc... all formats are acceptable). Transferring hard copies can be arranged for additional fees.
WHO WILL OWN THE WEBSITE?
Upon payment completion, the client will own every piece of work we post and/or forward.
DO YOU OFFER DISCOUNTS OF ANY KIND?
You bet. For non-profit clubs, associations & charitable organizations our design services are discounted 15%.
WILL YOU GUARANTEE MY WEBSITE WILL BE LISTED HIGH IN SEARCH ENGINE RESULTS?
No, & any other reputable company would tell you the same. Search engines operate with too much complexity. All of our packages DO include listing a site with top search sites such as Google, Yahoo & BING (formerly MSN).
WILL YOU POST PAGES NOT CREATED BY YOU?
Under most circumstances, yes. However, LDD does not participate in websites with illegal, adult or violent content.
HOW CAN I PROMOTE MY WEBSITE?
Your site will benefit most by adding your website address as a byline to every piece of promotional material you distribute (business cards, pamphlets, posters, promotional packs, etc.). Online, we suggest:
- creating email lists for announcements, etc.;
- adding an advertising 'footer' to your outgoing email messages;
- listing your site with search engines, user groups & any other similar sites/groups;
WILL I BE LOCKED INTO A LONG TERM CONTRACT?
Because you decide which of our designing services suit your needs best, you are in control of this as well. The ownership of your website address and/or it's hosting may be seperate issues involving third parties.
WHAT DO YOU GUARANTEE?
The website design & functionality you hired us to complete will be posted only after you deem it ready, & we guarantee to get you there, or your money back!
CAN I USE GRAPHICS OR TEXT FROM OTHER WEBSITES?
With the copyright owner's permission, the answer to this question is yes. Alternatively, the Internet is widely used to share/display 'public domain' text & graphics legally usable by everyone.
HOW WILL I KNOW MY SITE IS BENEFITTING ME?
The most direct results will be increased connections. For those using our FIRST SITE package, we include setting up free Google tools which track your website's activities.
